About Sydni Ussery
Hello, my name is Sydni Ussery, and I am from Detroit, Michigan. I was recommended for this amazing opportunity by the owner, Mr. Bryant, and I feel extremely blessed to have spoken with him personally to learn more about Higher Educational Funding. His encouragement gave me not only valuable information but also hope that there are people out there who genuinely care about students like me who want to succeed. Growing up, I was always very aware of my emotions and the emotions of those around me. I’ve always been fascinated by the human mind and body, which naturally led me to become interested in psychology and nursing. I’ve known from a young age that I wanted to help people, and these two fields combined give me the opportunity to do just that. I want to become a registered nurse and also study psychology so I can provide both physical and emotional care to those in need. This summer, I began my first healthcare job as an intern with the express team at Henry Ford Hospital. It was such a valuable experience. I got to observe how the medical staff worked together, how they treated patients, and how they stayed calm in high-pressure situations. Getting to know the doctors, nurses, and other staff members helped me understand more about what it takes to succeed in healthcare. Seeing the impact they had on patients and families only strengthened my desire to follow this path. I truly feel that God has guided me on this journey. I used to believe in coincidences, but the way this opportunity came to me out of the blue felt like something bigger than chance. It gave me more confidence in my path and reminded me that I’m not alone in this. This scholarship would mean the world to me. It’s not just financial support to me, it's hope. My mom had to drop out of college at Eastern Michigan University because our family couldn’t afford to keep her enrolled. That fear of not being able to finish school has always stayed with me. I'm worried that I might have to give up on my dreams because of money. But this scholarship could be the difference that allows me to stay in school and focus on my goals. My dream is to build a stable, successful life doing work I’m passionate about. I want to be able to support myself and give back to my family, who have always done the best they could for me. I know I deserve more in life, and with this opportunity, I believe I can achieve it.
